Apprentice Claims Handler

At Kennedys, we have been providing claims handling services for over 25 years and for 7 years in Ireland. We handle over 60,000 claims a year and managing over 90 claims handling schemes.

We are looking for an ambitious and talented individual(s) who shows the potential to develop into a high performing claims handler. This opportunity is a three year fixed term contract apprentice scheme that provides exposure to all aspects of our claims handling business, allowing you to develop your technical expertise as well as professional skills.

While on the programme, in addition to gaining on the job insurance experience, you will complete the insurance industry professional qualifications APA and CIP/QFA as well as a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Insurance Practice (Apprenticeship) which is Level 8 on the NFQ awarded by IT Sligo.

When you join Kennedys, you will receive a tailored induction and will be assigned a business supervisor and mentor to provide support throughout the scheme.

Team

Kennedys' Claims Handling team is one of the leading, most experienced claims handling teams in the UK, Ireland and internationally. Our team, based in Taunton, Bristol, London and Dublin handle claims on behalf of major international insurers, brokers, managing general agents and insurer led schemes. We deal with thousands of notifications and our claims handlers provide pro-active, responsive, and cost-effective claims services, driven by a desire to provide outstanding client service.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the administration of a portfolio of insurance claims under the supervision of experienced Claims Handlers.
  • Open new claim notifications, upload documentation and accurately maintain claims handling systems.
  • Support the team with general claims administration, including processing correspondence, payments and file management.
  • Liaise with clients, insurers, brokers and other stakeholders to obtain information and provide updates.
  • Assist with preparing reports, management information and claims-related documentation.
  • Ensure claim files are maintained accurately and in accordance with internal procedures and service level agreements.
  • Monitor outstanding actions and support the progression of claims to ensure timely resolution.
  • Escalate issues, concerns or complex matters to senior team members where appropriate.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Participate in structured training and development activities, working towards relevant professional qualifications where applicable.
  • Support the wider Claims Handling team during periods of high workload and contribute to team objectives.
  • Adhere to all regulatory, compliance and risk management requirements

 

Entry Requirements

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Mature students - if over 23 years there are no minimum educational requirements - documented interview required
  • FETAC Level 5 qualification holders*
  • Between 18 and under 23 years – Leaving certificate, minimum of 160 points to include two honours in higher level paper and passes in Maths and English/Irish with specific requirements on grades/levels
