Expert Advice - Kildare

Expert Advice

Unit F3 Maynooth Business Campus, Maynooth, Co. Kildare

expertadvice.ie

Apply to: evan@expertadvice.ie

About the Company

Expert Advice (trading as PSRA) provides independent, impartial financial advice to public sector employees across Ireland and their partners, friends and families. We are completely independently owned, with no allegiance to any bank, insurance company, employer or union – which means the advice our clients receive is genuinely unbiased and built around their needs.

We specialise in retirement planning, investments, savings and protection, and have built our reputation on long-term, trusted client relationships and strong results. Our advisors combine genuine product knowledge with a confident, consultative sales approach – and that combination is exactly what we want our apprentices to learn and build their careers on.

About the Apprentice Programme

This is a genuine route into a career as a Qualified Financial Advisor – not an administration or call-centre role. We are looking for two ambitious individuals to join us as Apprentice Financial Advisors on a three-year, fixed-term, earn-and-learn apprenticeship contract.

While working with us, you will complete the QFA professional qualification and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Insurance Practice (Apprenticeship), a Level 8 qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications. The educational element of the programme is government-funded through SOLAS and the Higher Education Authority. Professional training takes place in Maynooth and Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, with the college element of the programme commencing in September.

Unlike many apprenticeship schemes, your development doesn’t stop at QFA. Once you have completed the programme and gained sufficient client-facing experience, Expert Advice will fund and support you to pursue the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation – the internationally recognised gold standard in financial planning.

You will be assigned a dedicated mentor and supervisor for the duration of the programme, and will work closely alongside some of our most experienced Senior Financial Advisors – people with decades of experience in the industry – attending real client meetings and learning our advice process first-hand. Year one is primarily in-person, working and training alongside the team; as you progress, the role will move to a hybrid mix of office, client meetings on the road, and remote working.

This is a genuinely well-rounded apprenticeship. You won’t be siloed into one narrow function such as administration, lead generation or protection – you will train across the full range, including pensions, protection, savings, investments, and overall financial planning, so that you graduate as a rounded Financial Advisor able to build complete financial plans for your clients. While we are public sector specialists, our clients’ partners and families often need advice too, so you will also learn how to advise private sector clients – broadening your skillset and your future client base.

About the Role

As an Apprentice Financial Advisor, you will be learning how to deliver expert financial advice to public sector clients on some of the biggest financial decisions of their lives – pensions, retirement planning, investments and protection. This is a target-driven, performance-focused role: we want ambitious, competitive people who want to build a serious career and be properly rewarded for results.

What this role involves:

  • Shadowing and supporting experienced Senior Financial Advisors at client meetings.
  • Learning our advice process across the full range of financial planning: pensions, protection, savings, investments and overall financial plans – not siloed into a single area.
  • Building the technical knowledge to research and help prepare client recommendations.
  • Learning to advise both public sector clients and their private sector partners and families.
  • Travelling to meet clients across the country as your role develops (own car required).
  • Building strong, long-term relationships with clients in the public sector.
  • Working towards your own sales and business targets as your role develops, with strong earning potential through bonus.
  • Working towards your QFA and Level 8 degree alongside on-the-job learning.
  • Progressively taking on more client-facing responsibility as your qualifications and experience grow.

About You

You must be:

  • A Leaving Certificate holder (graduates and non-graduates both welcome to apply).
  • Reasonably numerate, with strong attention to detail.
  • A confident, persuasive communicator with strong people skills.
  • Driven, competitive and motivated to hit targets and grow your earnings.
  • Hard-working, with a genuine drive to build a long-term career in financial advice.
  • Committed to studying for a Level 8 qualification while working full-time.
  • Fluent in English.
  • In possession of a full, clean driving licence and your own car (essential, due to client travel).
  • Previous sales experience is an advantage, though not essential – full training and coaching will be provided.

Benefits of Working at Expert Advice

  • Starting salary of €36,000, with strong increases in Year 2 and Year 3.
  • Performance-related bonus opportunities.
  • Tax-free car and subsistence allowance.
  • Company pension with a strong employer contribution.
  • Life cover.
  • Free on-site parking.
  • Holiday allowance that increases with service.
  • Fully funded QFA qualification and Level 8 degree.
  • Funded progression to Certified Financial Planner (CFP) status after qualifying.
  • Dedicated mentor and supervisor support throughout the programme.
  • A genuine, structured pathway to becoming a qualified Financial Advisor – not an admin or call-centre role.

Minimum Entry Level Requirements

  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Hold a Leaving Certificate (graduates and non-graduates welcome).
  • Hold a full, clean driving licence and have access to your own car.

Interested applicants should ask themselves:

  • Do I meet the minimum entry level requirements?
  • Can I commit to a three-year apprenticeship contract?
  • Do I have the self-motivation and time management to study at Level 8 while working?
  • Can I be diligent and committed across work, training and education?
  • Do I have the people skills to build long-term client relationships?
  • Can I take ownership and accountability for my own work and study?

Application Process and Timeframes

  • Two positions available, with an immediate start.
  • The college element of the programme begins in September.
  • Applications: please submit your CV to evan@expertadvice.ie
