IMO Financial Services specializes in providing financial solutions for the medical profession. The company was set up in 1993 by doctors for doctors, with the sole aim of helping doctors manage their finances. IMO Financial Services has been in existence for over 25 years.

IMO Financial Services is obliged to always give best advice and must strictly comply with the Central Bank’s Consumer Protection Code, 2012, the Fitness & Probity Standards and the Minimum Competency Code.

We provide advice and products in areas of:

  • Pensions (pre- & post- retirement
  • Protection (income & life cover)
  • Partnership insurance (e.g., GP practices with multiple partners)
  • Mortgages and mortgage protection
  • Investments

We are a team of 12 staff ranging from financial advisers, administrators, compliance officer and management.

If you join us as an apprentice, you will be joining a financial planning advisory firm who work with all the providers in the marketplace to find client focused solutions. As it is a small team, you will be exposed to everything from administration, financial advice and compliance.

You will be exposed to changes and developments in the marketplace and will have a dedicated mentor to help you upskill on the job as you go through the programme. There will be a very hands-on approach to learning through experience and by the end of the programme not alone will you be qualified, but you will also have a wealth of experience under your belt.

 

The 3-year Apprenticeship Programme

The Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship is an ‘earn and learn’ degree programme, combining on-the-job training with academic study. The three-year programme leads to the APA and QFA qualifications and a BA honor’s degree in business and insurance which will allow you to hit the ground running early in your career. You will develop the skills, knowledge and behavior’s necessary for a successful career in the financial services profession and beyond.

 

Year 1

While you are learning the ropes on-the-job, you will also be studying a wide range of insurance and business-related modules including professional business communication, teamwork and workplace collaboration, and selling and customer service for insurance.

Qualification: Accredited Product Advisor (APA Life & Loans)

Year 2

Once you are settled into your role, you will start to specialise more with regards your technical insurance modules and be learning more around wider business concepts including marketing principles, service development, E-business and innovation, and negotiation in practice.

Qualification: Certificate in Professional Financial Advice (QFA)

Year 3

Once you are settled into your role, you will start to specialise more with regards your technical insurance modules and be learning more around wider business concepts including marketing principles, service development, E-business and innovation, and negotiation in practice.

Qualification: BA (Hons) in Insurance Practice

Minimum Entry Level Requirements:

  • Mature students – if over 23 years there are no minimum educational requirements - documented interview required
  • FETAC Level 5 qualification holders*
  • Between 18 and under 23 years – Leaving certificate, minimum of 140 points to include two honors in higher level paper and passes in Math’s and English/Irish with specific requirements on grades/levels*
