About the Financial Planning Academy

We are looking for an ambitious and talented individual(s) who shows the potential to develop into a high performing business professional. This opportunity is a three year fixed term contract apprentice scheme that provides exposure to all aspects of our business, allowing you to develop your technical and professional skills.

While on the programme, in addition to gaining the job insurance experience, you will complete the insurance industry professional qualifications APA and CIP/QFA as well as a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Insurance Practice (Apprenticeship) which is Level 8 on the NFQ awarded by IT Sligo.

When you join Abbey Wealth, you will receive a tailored induction and will be assigned a business supervisor and mentor to provide support throughout the scheme.

About the Job Role

Paraplanner – Apprenticeship

As one of Abbey Wealth’s Paraplanners, you’ll take your first step towards a career in financial advice and wealth planning with responsibility for our day-to-day communication with clients worldwide.

You’ll work closely with Paraplanners and Advisers in our offices in Ireland and Spain to provide technical support and administrative backup. You’ll also work with our product providers, communicating in a confident and friendly manner.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assisting advisers with regular reviews and appointment booking of existing and prospective clients.
  • On-boarding new clients
  • Conducting financial planning analysis, such as investment risk profiling and cashflow modelling analysis on behalf of prospects and clients (all required on the job training provided).
  • Customer service administrative functions include, but are not limited to, assisting advisers and clients with the completion of relevant paperwork, tracking ongoing adviser business and dealing with information requests from clients and external parties.
  • Able to handle routine customer calls/e-mails on time and appropriately escalate any issues to advisers
  • Data entry and maintenance of CRM systems
  • Contributing to a positive culture of teamwork, flexibility, learning and development
  • Managing workloads to provide good service in a busy environment
  • Driving performance with the ability to work closely with leaders(s) and team(s)
  • Building strong relationships with advisers/product providers and the ability to collaborate across all teams
  • Optimising sales/renewal/rate and retention opportunities
  • Supporting our strategy and values within the team
  • Finding solutions to challenging situations
  • Adhering to all service and reporting timelines agreed for our business.

 

About You

  • Communicates openly and clearly with strong telephone and written communication skills
  • Proactively seeks out ways to learn, improve and develop themselves and identifies practical opportunities for the business to develop.
  • Methodical approach to a busy workload, prioritising oneself to see tasks through to completion.

Minimum Entry Level Requirements

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Mature students – if over 23 years, there are no minimum educational requirements however documented interview required
  • FETAC Level 5 qualification holders*
  • Between 18 and under 23 years – Leaving certificate, minimum of 140 points to include two honours in higher level paper and passes in Maths and English/Irish with specific requirements on grades/levels*
